Your perspective becomes the “X person perspective” of each work.

New media artist Hsin-Chien Huang strives to break the boundaries of traditional linear narrative frames and visual senses through art and technology. His creations use Virtual Reality (VR) and immersive, interactive performances to transform the traditional form of “story-telling” and create a “story-living” experience. The concept of "Being X " is taken from the unique physical immersion of VR works. The viewer not only enters a virtual world, but is also able to switch perspectives, allowing the body to disappear and reconstruct itself, with the senses and the physical body shifting with the space and the perspectives changing along with it.

The existence of virtual worlds, from the earliest "cyberspace" to the current "metaverse", has made the concept of "virtual identity" or "avatar" a possibility to escape from the single-representation system. Based on this, Huang's works propose reflections on contemporary technological society and the human condition, touching on issues such as life, consciousness, the individual and the collective, political history, trauma, environmental ecology, and even human predestination, and taking the re-experiencing feature of VR to give room for reinterpretation of local history and one's own culture.

"Being X - Hsin-Chien Huang's Metaverse Theater" is Huang’s first large-scale retrospective exhibition in Taiwan, featuring the artist's award-winning VR series, including La Camera Insabbiata, To the Moon, Samsara, and Bodyless. The exhibition also incorporates new media cross-disciplinary productions such as interaction, performance, programming, and video installation, such as We are What We Eat, which combines cooking, dance, and VR experience, and Bloodlines, a 3D scanned sculpture. This exhibition is also the first VR/XR-themed exhibition in Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, breaking through the logic and framework of the white cube or black box space of museums in the past. Through a realistic and surreal virtual world, visitors are led to a journey of identity and memory, entering a deeper journey of consciousness beyond the sensory experience.
It is a permit that enables the car to legally operate on the road. After a license plate is issued, each vehicle has a exclusive license plate that cannot be used by another vehicle in its place. If you lend your license plate to mount onto another vehicle or if you mount the license plate of another vehicle onto your own vehicle, you will be fined between NT$5,400 and NT$10,800, and your license plate will also be canceled.
According to the Transportation Bureau’s statistics, there were 56 passenger cars and 59 motorcycles, totaling in 115 traffic violation cases, involved in lending license plates to other vehicles or mounting license plates from other vehicles onto their own. These vehicles in question were all stopped, investigated and recorded by the police from January to September 2022.
According to the provisions in the Penalty Table for Traffic Violations, violations involving passenger cars will result in fines ranging from NT$7,200 to NT$10,800, while those involving motorbikes range from NT$5,400 to NT$8,100. Additionally, regardless of whether motorcycles or passenger cars have broken the law, the police are required by law to remove the license plate on the spot, as well as to impose a fine and cancel the license plates of both vehicles, whether they have mounted the license plate of another vehicle onto their own vehicle or have loaned their license plate to another vehicle. Before being permitted to legally drive on the road, the owner of the vehicle must submit an application for the issuance of a new license plate at the motor vehicles office if they intend to keep using their vehicle.
The Transportation Bureau pointed out that vehicles must only mount their own individual license plates after their issuance. A vehicle owners must not lend his or her license plate to another vehicle to mount, or mount the license plate of another vehicle onto his or her vehicle, even if he or she owns both cars. Violators will be fined, whether lending their license plate to another or using the license plate of another vehicle. Car owners should pay more attention to this rule.
The initial vision of the brand was that would continue at least for 100 years. The title of the exhibition, Tsuzuku (Japanese: つづく), has the meaning of continuing. Accordingly, the word also represents the concept of temporal continuity of the brand, and it connotes connection, linkage, joining hands, and circulation, which conjures the image of creative energy generated by the interaction of people and things.

minä perhonen creates fashion with universal value, which does not follow trends. Through the interplay of design and joy, the brand has led the way for special clothing for everyday life in Japan, and its philosophy of being close to the people and their everyday lives have been loved and appreciated around the world.

Akira Minagawa is regarded as one of the key figures in Japanese contemporary design and also has a distinctive status in the international fashion design world. Minagawa started his fashion brand minä in 1995 (the name was changed to minä perhonen in 2003) with an aspiration to establish a brand that would continue at least for 100 years. Simultaneously, he hopes that the brand can continue to thrive even in the absence of the founding designer.

Moreover, mina means I/me in Finnish, and perhonen means butterfly. The brand applies various fabrics with diverse patterns to its fashions, just like the varied patterns of the wings of butterflies.

minä perhonen exhibition is highly popular in Japan. It was the inaugural exhibition for the reopening of the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo in 2019, and following by touring in Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art (2020), Fukuoka Art Museum (2022), and Aomori Museum of Art (2022). The exhibition will be held overseas for the first time this October in Taiwan and bring the spectacular contents of Tsuzuku to Kaohsiung City.

In order to present the Tsuzuku exhibition perfectly, the exhibition also invited Kaoru Kasai, a renowned Japanese graphic designer, to be the main visual designer and architect Tsuyoshi Tane to plan eight thematic spaces in accordance with the site of Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts. It is a complete showcase of the development of minä perhonen to date.

Accordingly, the exhibits will include not only products, such as textiles, clothes, interior goods, and tableware, but also artworks and materials, such as video, printed materials, and Minagawa’s original design drawings and illustrations to shed light on what underlies these creations. Without doubts, this is going to be a great opportunity for Taiwanese audiences to experience and be introduced to the creativity and philosophy of minä perhonen and Akira Minagawa.

The late 1980s was a period when modern art movement thrived in southern Taiwan. In June 1991, the “Taiwan Project” was jointly conceived and executed by Chen Shui-Tsai, Ni Tsai-Chin, and Lee Jiun-Shyan; the next year, Su Chih-Che joined the project. Within 10 years, the “Taiwan Project” conducted a total of 13 participatory exhibitions of art activity. During the period, the four artists also continued creating their own works. Through the stimulation and expansion of the four shared artistic concepts of “Marginal Consciousness,” “Dialects of the Land,” “Subjective Truth,” and “Diverse Dialogues,” the four artists completed creative works of visual art, in which “particular” and “universal” coexisted, through own unique subjective thinking and style. Curated by Professor Lai Ming-Chu, this exhibition will display more than 150 works and related precious documents of the four artists. Kaohsiung was the "Taiwan Project 2000 Concluding Exhibition" station of the "Taiwan Project" that year, so this travelling exhibition specifically ends at the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts.

Why can birds fly in the sky? Use your imagination. If you could fly like a bird, where would you want to fly? Can you fly as long as you have wings? Think about it. Besides birds, what other winged insects or animals do you know? Observe carefully butterflies, bees, dragonflies, bats… What is the difference among their wings?

Do you also like to take an airplane? Do you know how the airplane was invented? Since long time ago, people have always wanted to fly to the sky. Starting from the observation of the wings of birds, they tried to make various flying tools which could carry people. Through scientific exploration and experimentation, even at the risk of sacrificing life, and finally with the improvement of science and technology, the dream of flying to the sky was carried out.

Flying is both imagining and creating. It takes a lot of courage and perseverance. Do you know how artists imagine flying? Can you design your own flight vehicle? Let’s take a flying time machine. Are you ready? Let’s fly!

After 3 years, the General Association of Chinese Culture has invited more than 50 booths in Taiwan to participate in the first physical tourism, cultural and artistic exchange event "Taiwan Plus 2022", which will be held in Ueno, Tokyo on September 17th and 18th. The Tourism Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government has also taken part in this event. This time, in addition to preparing a new tourism marketing video "Kaohsiung Daisuki" to share with the long-awaited Japanese people; they also prepared the latest Kaohsiung sightseeing, eating, drinking, and entertainment information. The exhibition will provide interesting games, giveaways and interacting activities with the public. Presenting everyone with the new tourism image of Kaohsiung developed in the past 3 years, so that once the border opens up, Kaohsiung will be the first choice for Japanese tourists when they visit Taiwan, and they will experience Kaohsiung's unique human touch and enthusiasm again.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-Mai said with the friendly relations between Taiwan and Japan, the Japanese take part in an important role in the Kaohsiung tourism before the pandemic. After the pandemic, Kaohsiung City will pay more attention to the connection with and promotion in foreign markets. In particular, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Southeast Asian countries are target audiences that we must strive for. The world's tourism has undergone qualitative changes during the pandemic. The only constant is Kaohsiung's promotion for mountain, sea, river, and port tourism, and the strengthening of the construction of related software and hardware in scenic spots. For example, the reopening of Southern Cross-Island Highway will drive the development in Kaohsiung’s back yard of the eastern 9 districts; the aboriginal cultural sites with magnificent mountain views in Maolin, Namasia and Taoyuan are also attractions to foreign tourists; the continuous development of urban areas, such as the splendid Asia New Bay Area, the Green Corridor paving the green arteries, the historical track of Yancheng and Gushan Hamasing, etc.; there are also the incredible seafood in Cijin and rich and diverse scenery throughout north and south of Kaohsiung (Qieding, Yong’an, Mituo, Ziguan, Linyuan districts). In addition, 39 gourmet restaurants in Kaohsiung that were included in the Michelin's 2022 Bib Gourmand lists for the first time this year will definitely attract more international tourists to come here for a taste of the amazing Kaohsiung cuisine once the border opens up.

Chou Ling-Wen, director of the Tourism Bureau, further stated that the press conference for the "Taiwan Plus 2022 " will be held on September 16th, Japan time, which is the first tourism and cultural exchange activities between Taiwan and Japan post-pandemic, and on the 17th and 18th, from 11:00 to 18:00, an exhibition will be held at the Tokyo Ueno Park. The two spokespersons of the city government, Amber Chou and Chang Yen-Ching, are specially invited to assist in the filming of the new tourism marketing video, "Kaohsiung Daisuki", which will be premiered at the Japanese exhibition. From the perspective of the two intellectual and beautiful spokespersons, the video shows us the highlights of Kaohsiung in its transformation, including mountain cities in the East Kaohsiung, the urban street view, and the beautiful harbor.

Amber Chou said that the most impressive thing about filming this was the experience of tea picking in Liugui with tea farmers, and learning the difference between camellia and tea tree. There’s honey sweetness when the tea first enters your mouth, with a refreshing and pleasant finish. If the Japanese has a chance to taste this in Kaohsiung, they’ll definitely fall in love with it. Chang Yen-Ching mentioned that through the making of this marketing video for Kaohsiung sightseeing, she visited many beautiful and distinctive scenic spots in Kaohsiung. Whether it's riding a bicycle on the Green Corridor, admiring the community's painted art, or roaming the harbor on the light rail transit, Kaohsiung is getting more and more beautiful. It's really amazing! The two spokespersons hope that through the film, Japanese people can relive Kaohsiung's beautiful mountain, sea, river, port, and historical and cultural heritage, and have a better understanding of Kaohsiung in its transformation. Come visit Kaohsiung for sightseeing and delicious food once the border opens up!

For the two-day exhibition, the Tourism Bureau has designed interactive games that are common in Taiwan’s night markets, so that visitors can get to know Kaohsiung through games. As long as you can name famous landmarks or street foods in Kaohsiung, such as Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, Kaohsiung Music Center, the Pier-2 Art Center, Rainbow Arch, minced pork rice, big bowl of ice, grilled squid, light rail train, etc., and hit the target with ring toss, it symbolizes dreams come true and you can win a special Kaohsiung gift. The latest Kaohsiung related information will be provided through the two-day exhibition and the social media sites, promoting Kaohsiung's tourism brand image and popularity, so that more Japanese people will fall in love with Kaohsiung.

The Bureau of Transportation, Kaohsiung City Government gathered domestic scholars, EV and charging pile businesses, parking lot business owners and Taiwan Power Company to convene the charging pile installation forum. At the forum, in addition to reaching a consensus on accelerating the promotion of charging pile infrastructure deployment, the forum attendees unanimously agreed that in order to achieve sustainable management and encourage businesses to invest in providing services, user charges for charger piles should be formulated and reviewed.
At the forum, the public charging pile installation plan was discussed according to the principle of “mainly home charging supplemented by external charging.” According to the representatives of Taiwan Power Company, the installation of power supplies will be strengthened in conjunction with the policy; in addition, representatives from Delta Electronics, Inc. also said that power inadequacy should not be a problem in the installation of charging piles. However, the backend energy management system (EMS) should be strengthened. During the meeting, the operating management modes of charging parking spaces and charging piles, fast-charging and slow-charging technology, wire layout, integration of connector specifications from different manufacturers, user charge and other issues were also fully discussed. Additionally, the current bottleneck of the limited quantity of charging piles through cloud big data were analyzed.
The Bureau of Transportation Director-Chief Chang Shu-Chuan said that according to the experience of Kaohsiung City bus electrification, the convenience of continuous supplementary power for private electric vehicle (EV) and the accompanying deployment of charging pile infrastructure in the city will be important issues in the future. In particular, the charging service sharing platforms are the top priority. Besides the setup of charging piles, integrating charging pile information and providing car owners with service options must be completed in the meantime to bring synergistic effects.
Chang Shu-Chuan said that in order to build an EV-friendly charging environment, Kaohsiung City currently has 324 public parking lots where the Bureau of Transportation will install charging piles every year in connection with the number of EVs owned. At present, there are 170 charging piles in 32 parking lots. By the end of 2023, will be 400 charging piles. In the future, charging piles per parking lot will increase by at least 5% in order to reach the goal of completing 2,000 charging piles in public parking lots throughout the city by 2030.
According to the Bureau of Transportation, in addition to accelerating the deployment of EV infrastructure, taking public transportation is also a good choice for net zero carbon emissions. The Bureau of Transportation will continue to complete the overall public transportation network services. Through Kaohsiung Metro connecting Light Rail, buses, youbike 2.0, shared mobility and other green modes, a high-quality public transportation environment can be built. The goal of net zero carbon emissions will be gradually realized in our daily lives.

Multiple Forks: A Field Investigation Led by Director-General of the Bureau of Transportation, Kaohsiung City Government

【Kaohsiung News】In order to prevent the occurrences of traffic accidents, the Transportation Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government has repeatedly invited the Kaohsiung City Police Department and the Public Works Bureau, Kaohsiung City government to conduct a site investigation at accident-prone locations. Following the existing county districts, including Gangshan, Renwu, Daliao, Fengshan, etc. on the 22nd, the Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government along with the Kaohsiung City Police Department headed for Qianzhan District and Yancheng District to re-examine the road types and conditions and formulate improvement measures, hoping to provide pedestrians with a better road environment and maintain vehicle safety.
According to statistics, two incents of death within 30 days and 14 cases of A2 (injuries) took place at the motorcycle slow lane underpass at Zhongshan 4th Rd., Qianzhen District from 2019 to May 2022. An analysis of the characteristics of the accidents that took place at the road sections shows that collisions comprised the majority (73%), mainly due to failure to keep safe distances when following other vehicles. From 2019 to April 2022, two incidents of death within 30 days and nine cases of A2 (injuries) took place at Cisian 2nd Rd./Fubei Rd./Lainan St./Hsinghua St. An analysis of the characteristics of the accidents that took place at the road sections shows that sideswipes and side impacts accounted for 33%, respectively. The analysis shows that the two main causes of accidents at the road sections were failure to observe the condition of the vehicle in front and not making left turns as instructed and causing accidents.
Since the motorcycle slow lane underpass at Zhongshan 4th Rd., Qianzhen District is an important main line connecting Xiaogang, Linyuan and the original urban area, with high peak hour traffic that frequently result in slow lane overtaking collisions, riders falling off motorcycles, etc. In view of this, the Transportation Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government and the Public Works Bureau, Kaohsiung City government have reached a consensus on cleaning the inner tunnel walls of the slow lane underpass and reviewing the tunnel lighting and entrance/exit slope in order to increase visibility. Additionally, the Transportation Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government will adjust the edge line of the underpass inner lane. The tunnel is marked with a double solid white line in order to effectively regulate traffic flow. Speed limit signs will also be set up and the Transportation Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government will evaluate the setup of a pedestrian and slow lane AI warning system in order to reduce overtaking collisions in the underpass.
Furthermore, the Cisian 2nd Rd./Fubei Rd./Lainan St./Hsinghua St. have complex routes, which are non-orthogonal roads with shorter junction intervals. Most road users that pass the road sections are unable to follow the signs, marked lines and traffic lights while driving. After a discussion, the rule banning motorcycles driving on the inner lane of Cisian 2nd Rd will be cancelled. The waiting area for taking a left turn from Cisian 2nd Rd. to Fubei Rd. will also be set up. The Cisian 2nd Rd. (westbound) slow lane will be narrowed in order to increase the Cisian 2nd Rd. users’ visual range of Xinghua St. The Cisian 2nd Rd. (westbound) Arrow marking will be changed to the approach-to-obstacle marking (single solid striped lines ). Spherical lens and delineator posts will also be installed to warn road users to avoid crossing the double yellow line. The channelizing-line marking will be set up in the lower part of the road section in order to guide road users through safe gradients while driving on the road.
Director-general Chang Shu-Chuan of the Transportation Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government added that in addition to the two locations being the main cross-regional roads, they were also the main access roads for local residents subject to higher accident rates. Therefore, the road improvement plans were actively formulated in order to build a better road environment. She called on road users to strictly observe the speed limit, not to drive recklessly and hastily, slow down at road junctions and road sections and abide by the traffic rules to protect one’s own safety and that of others.

Cijin, with its sunshine, beaches and the cool of the ocean breezes, is waving welcome hands to tourists from across the country. With fishing flags hung up all over the Cijin Street recently, two exquisite sand sculptures are situated in the open field beside the Cijin Tianhou Temple. One is a girl riding whale, representing Cijin with "riding a whale" (in Chinese, it’s pronounced " Qí jing", mostly the same as Cijin District), while the other is a French Bulldog clenching his fist with the saying "Let's support Cijin together". By the side of these, lies a sand play area for kids and for parents to check-in on social media. With all of these, it was officially announced that 2022 Cijin Black Sand Festival and Kaohsiung Beer Rock Carnival will take place on July 9th and July 16th, respectively. The Tourism Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government will collaborate with local businesses, hotel & tourism industry and specialty stores to create a vibrant festive atmosphere as Samui Island, with the exotic island atmosphere that tourists from all over the country enjoy!

The fishing flags flying on Cijin Street are produced collaboratively by the local business, Kaohsiung Printing & Dyeing Factory. These 125 fishing flags not only address their magnificent feature, but the commercial district is also embellished with their rich colors. Many tourists are attracted by them to take pictures and check-in on social media. In addition, the sand sculpture pattern representing Cijin with a girl "riding a whale" is designed creatively by Adam Hsu (許常德), a well-known music lyricist and producer. As a "Qizi" (adopted son) of Matsu in Cijin Tianhou Temple since he was a child, he welcomes people across the country to Cijin to taste delicious food, get refreshed by the sea breeze and enjoy their vacation. "Thanks to the city government for supporting Cijin. I am very glad to have lots of fishing flags flying on the street and giving this place a special look; they draw the attention and show the great importance with large-sized fishing flags. This is the true color of Cijin. With the Black Sand Festival and Beer Carnival taking place in Cijin, we are delighted to see a large number of tourists coming to the local commercial district!" said Yu Hong Chen (陳昱宏), chairman of the Cihou Commercial District Development Association.

The Tourism Bureau stated that this year, Cijin Black Sand Festival's theme is an animal carnival party. On the 9th of July you will be welcomed by the sand sculptures exhibition of the zoo's star animals. The exhibition serves as a warmup for the reopening zoo in the coming future. On top of that, by creating an island holiday atmosphere as from abroad, beach parasols, Instagrammer deck chairs and artwork installations will be set up as check-in points on the site to ensure the exotic atmosphere with its beauty and romance. These good vibes will encourage people visiting Cijin to take countless breathtaking photos as Instagrammers. On weekends, a variety of activities such as the sand sculpting experience, loved by both parents and kids, interesting sports games, real world puzzle solving, stunt kite performances and exciting beach volleyball are waiting for you. The summer in Cijin is full of joy and laughter, ideal for a family trip.

The Tourism Bureau further explained that the Kaohsiung Beer Rock Festival, which has been held for many years, has always been a must-attend event in summer for numerous people. However, it was suspended in the past two years due to the pandemic. The Tourism Bureau took the lead by holding the Kaohsiung Beer Carnival this year, aiming to promote tourism development in Cijin. From July 16th to August 13th, different themed activities will be held in Cijin each Saturday for five consecutive weeks. Cooperating with Cijin Sunset Bar, which is very popular among domestic and international tourists, brings a theme party to the next level. From seafood and beer to the night party, you can chill till late night in Cijin. After the great success of the "SUPER TIGER ARTIST", B.T.O.D is once again invited by the Tourism Bureau to perform the theme song "And Your Smile" they composed for Kaohsiung Beer Carnival this year. They consider Kaohsiung as the most suitable place to drink beer all year round. With this song they hope to attract people to visit Kaohsiung, invite people to sip beer on the beach with the sea breeze blowing, and enjoy the amazing summertime with a smile.

The Tourism Bureau reminds people not to drink and drive. This festival also cooperates with In Young Hotel, one of the high-quality hotels in Cijin, and Cijin Luxury Campground, launching various accommodation discounts for those who are interested in it. This attracts people to Cijin not only for a short visit, but also to stay overnight to have a more complete experience in "Cijin the SamuI Island". Please seize the opportunity to book your own accommodation, and plan a trip to Cijin, guaranteed to be the best trip ever with delicious food, incredible fun, breathtaking photos and enjoyable vibes! With the support of the central government of putting in tens of billion in 5 years to create the biggest experimental site of Taiwan, the city government also launched the “006688” allowance program for leasing. This move has already attracted more than 80 big enterprises, accelerators and new business firms to enter. To strengthen the tenacity of the Asia New Bay Area 5G AIoT Ecological System, the government invited more enterprises to join the program. The Bureau of Economic Development announced today (August 20) that the deadline for application of the 006688 program, which was previously set at the end of June, is now extended to the end of this year. Enterprises are welcome to the park.

According to Director Tai-Hsiang Liao of the Bureau of Economic Development, the office buildings of Hon Hai, Kuo Cheng, Taiwan Life, and Cheng Kung, were the few enterprises approved shortly after the launch of the 006688 program. The space of these buildings is approximately 10,000 pings. The rent of the enterprises will be subsidized for 6 years. COMPAL Electronics, Wistron, Askey Computer, ELAN Electronics, CGCG Inc., MoonShine Animation, Auray Technology, CTIMES, Leadership Technologies, BLOCK Inc., and ARKkers International, a total of eleven 5G AIoT related enterprises were attracted to form an ecological system. It is estimated that more than NT$110 million will be subsidized. About 90% of the fund has been used and there are two enterprises still in the process of screening.

Kaohsiung City Government resolved to extend the 006688 program to the end of the year to further strengthen the tenacity of the Asia New Bay Area 5G AIoT ecological system for the deployment of AI, unmanned vehicles, and UAV, and related 5G AIoT application with a view to recruit more big enterprises to set up R&D centers or demonstration zones in the park, according to Tai-Hsiang Liao. In addition, the government also planned to broaden the site and facilitate the subsidy. There are 85 buildings confirmed at the park. More space for the park is in negotiation and it is expected that at least another 10,000 ping of space will be available for the enterprises.

[Kaohsiung News]"Kaohsiung citizens are truly lucky!" said Chang Shu-Chuan, Director-General of the Transportation Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government, adding that from April 22, 2022 to the end of the year, citizens riding on public buses and paying through QR code are eligible to enjoy a full rebate on their bus fare. What’s more, companies are responding in kind: by scanning and renting YouBike 2.0, users get to ride the first 30 minutes free of charge every Friday; iPASS is increasing a number of benefits and deals; shared transport operators UrDa, Gokube, and iRent have also successively launched their exclusive promotions. At the same time, to echo the "Green Friday QR Carbon Reduction Fun" campaign, Chang announced that the MeN Go promotion will last until the end of 2022, so that residents of the city can enjoy a wonderful weekend, every week!
Chang pointed out that Kaohsiung is currently the most diverse city in the country in terms of transport options, with MRT, Kaohsiung Light Rail, buses, ferries, Youbike 2.0 and shared electric scooters readily available. Thanks to the strong support from the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), Kaohsiung now has 195 electric low-floor buses in operation as of the end of March this year, accounting for 20% of the total number of electric buses, making it the "No. 1 city in Taiwan" in terms of the proportion of electric buses. Kaohsiung is also leading the nation as the first city in Taiwan to adopt the advanced model T EV bus made by Foxtron to operate on the road.
Chang noted that the city’s initiative to launch QR code payment on city buses last year was well received by the public and on World Earth Day 2022, the city will again offer free rides on city buses, coupled with free YouBike 2.0 rentals for the first 30 minutes every Friday from April 22 to the end of the year with the use of a rider code. She also thanked the transport operators in the city for their steadfast support by offering deals to users.
Tsai Meng-Yu, Director of the Department of Air Quality Protection and Noise Control of the EPA, pointed out that the central and local governments have made concerted efforts to promote various air pollution prevention strategies in recent years and Kaohsiung is definitely not lagging behind in improving air pollution. According to the statistics, from April to November of 2021, Kaohsiung's electric buses traveled a total of 5.5 million kilometers, which translates into a reduction of about 1,120 metric tons of CO2 equivalent, contributing significantly to improving Kaohsiung's air quality; the EPA is committed to promoting the goal of zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The MOTC added that it appreciates Kaohsiung's efforts to achieve the goal of full electrification in 2030 and the establishment of a public transportation system, making Kaohsiung the city with the most diverse public transportation and the leading city in Taiwan in providing intelligent electronic payment services. The MOTC also applauded the city for launching the MeN Go Monthly Pass, which integrates MRT, light rail, bus, ferry and YouBike 2.0 to provide quality and convenient transportation services to the public.
The Transportation Bureau stated that in response to World Earth Day 2022, it is launching a series of "Green Friday QR Carbon Reduction Fun" promotions, which include full rebates for using QR codes to pay for bus rides, with the first 30 minutes free for YouBike 2.0 rentals with a QR scan and exclusive 7-ELEVEN coupons for using the iPASS Money rider code for public transportation, as well as the chance to win a limited edition PUI PUI iPASS card. For shared transport, the public can get a free 25-minute credit for a 60-minute ride with UrDa, a NT$50 credit for three lucky winners with Gokube and a free 15-minute credit for Friday rentals with every 30-minute ride on iRent every Wednesday.
In addition, the MeNGo monthly pass price reduction and discount will last until the end of 2022. Please check the official website of each operator or the FB Facebook fan group.
